Beginner

Tuesdays 7:00 to 8:30 pm

This class is for those who are just beginning their drumming journey, who have not been on the path very long, or who are returning after some time away. Leo finds great joy in sharing his experience with beginners.

The class will focus on developing a good foundation in rhythm and technique by learning exercises and rhythms for the individual and the group. Each class will present some new material, as well as reviewing concepts and rhythms covered in the weeks before.

Whenever possible, the focus will be on developing the skills to play together as a group. Most students find this the source of the greatest satisfaction.

New students may join the group on the first week of any month. On these weeks the classes will be especially focused on the basics of technique and exercises. Existing members of the group are encouraged to attend, but attendance is not mandatory. However, it is in these settings where new drummers can best hone their technique.
